Published: Dec 1st, 2008 | Author: Alex Bhaswara Add Comment

Smoking is one of the leading cause of heart attacks among people in their thirties and forties, but, unfortunately, most people still need an alarming health report and quit smoking only on prescription. What’s worse, when it comes to persuading smokers to quit smoking, health arguments don’t always work.

The majority of smokers want to quit and have tried to quit smoking in the past 12 months, but only around 1% of smokers who try to quit on their own successfully do so. That is because the relapse rate among them is very high. After trying to quit smoking two to three times, they become frustrated and start smoking even more. However, if given psychological counseling, the quit rate improves to 11%.

Anyway, smoker should be motivated enough to quit smoking, or, if we try to think positively, smoker need grave reasons not to smoke during hard smoking cessation period, when nicotine addiction in collaboration with smoker’s mind are going to find tons of reasons to smoke “just one”. Below are just some reasons to quit smoking:

- You will be able to enjoy flowers, food, fresh air, taste of food, etc. far better

- You will be less wrinkly. After 10 years, smoking can speed up your skin’s aging process by narrowing your skin’s blood vessels and damaging the tissues that give the skin its strength and elasticity.

Stop Smoking With Subliminal Messages

Published: Dec 1st, 2008 | Author: Alex Bhaswara Add Comment

Using subliminal messages as a tool to help you quit smoking is an excellent idea if you have been struggling with a nicotine addiction, and need an extra boost to make that nasty habit disappear from your life. Subliminal messages can’t make you quit, but they can help you reach a point where your willpower becomes stronger than your addiction.

Tools to Stop Smoking

When you are trying to quit smoking, you will probably use several different tools to help you. For example, you may want to start using nicotine gum or even hard candies as a diversion for the physical craving for nicotine. Since smoking is a multi-dimensional addiction, however, these tools may not give you what you need to overcome the addiction.

Smoking is also a mental addiction, and one that quickly become part of your normal routine. You may find that, at least in the first few weeks, you constantly need to do something with your hands. You can use many different tools, including subliminal messages, to help you overcome these psychological and physiological addictions.

What if I’m not Ready to Quit Smoking?

I watched my brother and sister struggle to quit smoking.

I was raised in a non-smoking home and though I had a few relatives who smoked by and large most of my family didn’t. However – my younger brother became a two pack a day smoker and smoked till the day he died. Incidentally he died at age 61 – way pre-mature – with every health related problem you can mention. My sister, the youngest of us, is still puffing away, even though she has had double- pneumonia twice, has COPD and is on oxygen 24 hours a day. Do you have any idea just how dangerous it is to smoke around an open oxygen bottle? She has convinced herself that she can’t quit and has given up. How sad!

I was talking to a friend of mine a few years back who smoked and I asked him why he smoked. He told me that he enjoyed it. He enjoyed something that will for sure shorten his life by 10 to 12 years. Something that will destroy his lungs and heart. Something that contributes to all kinds of organ failure (yes that’s true), that damages your skin and eyes, and Oh Yes – makes you stink! I forgot – it’s also proven to damage a man’s virility. As a man, that’s reason enough by itself not to smoke!

What if I Fall Off the Wagon and Have Just One More Cigarette?

Many times a person who decides to quit smoking will experience stress
and of course the temptation to “just have one”, or they tell themselves “Just one won’t hurt me”. Of course if you follow this trail long enough you will never kick the habit. One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that no one understands what we are going through. My recommendation is have a buddy to confide in when the temptation strikes. And some times a person even with the aid of the best hypnosis program on the market will experience slight problems with breaking this habit.

If you slip up and have a cigarette or two, it isn’t the end of the world. “Cheating” or lighting up once over a cup of coffee doesn’t need put you back on the road to a pack a day. Refocus on your goal – being nicotine free! Remind yourself that quitting is hard. Just like anything that’s difficult, you may not get it right immediately. Figure out what caused you to smoke, and learn from it.

Quit Smoking and Save a Fortune

There are many costs associated with smoking, some are obvious such as the cost of the individual packs or cartons of cigarettes, other costs are hidden, but can still place a drain on your bank account.

The average price of a pack of cigarettes is $4.49. If you smoke just one pack a day, that would cost you $134.70 a month and $1616.40 for an entire year. If you smoke more then one pack a day, then obviously your costs will be higher.

Besides the costs of cigarettes, individuals that smoke have to pay for travel to and from purchasing their cigarettes. With the high costs of gas, this can add up pretty quickly. Smokers must also pay for smoking accessories, such as matches or lighters.

Impulse purchases also cost smokers money, although this isn’t widely recognized or reported. Often times, when smokers go and buy cigarettes, they pick up snacks and drinks while at the store. Five dollars here and there can add up to a lot of money over time.

How to Stop Smoking

Chinn Neo – a previous guest at Chiva-Som – is very happy. “[Ken Rosen] treated my husband Robert Lau for his nicotine addiction,” she says. “And after having smoked for the past 20 years, he has stopped! This is AMAZING!!”

Chinn not only now has a healthier husband, she also has no unpleasant smoke odours hanging around the house. True: nicotine is incredibly addictive. But with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), you too can stop smoking.

Ken Rosen is Chiva-Som’s Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. “At Chiva-Som,” he says, “we offer a complimentary half-hour stop-smoking treatment that follows the NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol. “The treatment consists of four or five needles placed painlessly at specific points in each ear. After three to ten half-hour sessions, most people quit, and many report back a year later saying they remain smoke free.”

Stop Smoking Easily – No Longer a Frustrating Pipedream!

“Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, and may complicate Pregnancy.”

“Smoking can cause a slow and painful death.”

Despite statutory warnings as dramatic as this in the US and the UK, there are still plenty of us who just can’t seem to give up on the habit, no matter how hard we try. Finding a way to stop smoking easily has, until recently, been about as challenging and elusive as the search for the holy grail.

Smoking always starts out as a curiosity quencher. After “trying it out” the first time, the second and third times come quickly, heralding the start of a regular routine that is very costly in more ways than one.

The seriousness of the effects of smoking would, one could reason, be enough to see people giving up in their droves. Everyone knows by now that smoking is clearly linked to diseases like lung, mouth and throat cancer, heart disease and premature tooth decay, to name but a few. Nonetheless, most of us who smoke continue to persist with a habit that we tacitly acknowledge is an insidious killer, not to mention unpleasant and potentially dangerous for those around us.
