How to Empty Ostomy Pouch

Follow the steps below to empty ostomy pouch. Empty the pouch when it is one-third to one-half full. This will help to avoid leakage. It will also keep the pouch from bulging under your clothes.
If using a clamp tail end closure
Empty the pouch
1. Sit on the toilet with the tail end of the ostomy pouch aimed between your legs.
2. Place a layer of toilet paper in the toilet bowl to prevent splashing
3. Hold the bottom of the pouch up. Remove the clamp and set aside; cuff the bottom of the pouch. This will keep the end clean.
